Dear Parents and Carers,

Arrangements for returning to school in September 2020

The Department for Education has made the decision for all children to return to school in September.  As the majority of the children will not have been in school since March, we are planning to welcome them all back in phases as follows:

Your child’s start date in September:

Nursery children will start coming in to school on Monday 14th September (letters have been sent with details), usual morning or afternoon session will run from 18th September;

Reception children will start coming into school on Monday 14th September (letters have been sent with details), and the children will be full time from Friday 18th September.

Year 1 children start coming to school on the 7th and 8th on a part time basis (the children will be organised into two groups; Group A (10:00 – 1:30) and B (11:30 to 3:00), then full time from 9th.

Year 2 - start on the 8th September;

Year 3 - start on the 7th September;

Year 4 - start on the 8th September;

Year 5 - start on the 8th September;

Year 6 - start on the 7th September.

Home learning will be provided for children who do not start until 8th September.

Arrangements for dropping off and collecting your child:

Nursery to use main gate;

Reception to use EYFS gate;

Year 1 to use the double gates;

Year 2 to use the main gate.

Year 3 to use car park gate (far right of upper site);

Year 4 to enter via the central car park gate;

Year 5 to use car park gate (far right of upper site);

Year 6 to use central car park gate.

Parents will not be able to congregate on the playgrounds. Please form a queue by the gate and the class teacher will release your child.  Children in Year 5 and 6 will be able to leave the school grounds to meet parents outside or walk home (we will send the permission form for this).  If your children are due to finish at the same time, please collect the younger child first. Class teachers will wait with the children until they are all collected.  Parents and carers will need to drop off and collect promptly.

Start and finish times:

Nursery – 8:40-11:40am and 12:30-3:30pm (children can be collected earlier in line with siblings’ finish time)

Reception - 8:40am-2:50pm

Year 1 – 8:40-2:55pm

Year 2 – 8.55-3pm

Year 3 and 4 - 8:45-3:15pm

Year 5 and 6 - 8:30-3pm

These arrangements will be in place until we are advised by the DFE that all restrictions have been removed.

Lunchtime arrangements:

If your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 in September, they will be provided with a hot meal. Your child can bring a packed lunch (no fizzy drinks, sweets, products containing nuts though please).

If your child is in Year 3 to 6, you will need to order hot meals. Go to the Chartwells’ website for more information about this.

If your child is entitled to Free School Meals, they will automatically receive a hot meal.   If you think your child is entitled to Free School Meals apply online or contact the school office as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience, kindness and understanding over the past few months.  This has been so challenging for us all and we have really missed working with you and your children.  We will be working hard in September to get your child ready to catch up with their learning so thank you in advance for supporting us by bringing your child in on the correct day and at the correct time after the holiday.

We really appreciate everything that you have done to support us with home learning during this time. We look forward to getting back to normal over the coming weeks and months.

Kind regards

Mrs Trudy Emberson
