Get set… we’re taking part in The Big Pedal 2016, the UK’s largest inter-school cycling and scooting challenge that inspires pupils, staff and parents to choose two wheels for their journey to school.
Powered by Sustrans and funded by the Bike Hub, the challenge runs from 18 to 29 April. It’s free to enter and we would love everyone to be involved.
On each day of the challenge schools compete to see who can record the greatest number of pupils, staff and parents cycling or scooting to school. Our best 5 days will determine our final position in the challenge. We’ll be competing against other schools right across the UK, and if we clock up the most bike and scooter journeys we’ll win! We will also be entered in to a local competition, competing against other Crawley schools. The winning school will receive a brand new bike to be won by one lucky pupil!
Why we’re taking part
It’s a great way to get more of our pupils travelling to school on their bikes and scooters. We will be competing to become one of the UK’s top schools for two-wheeled journeys and will be in with a chance to win prizes including bike and scooter stunt shows and fantastic cycle and scooter storage.
All you need to do is encourage your child(ren) to cycle or scoot to school every day during the event, and join them on their way – parent and sibling journeys count too!

Thank you for your continued support and please get in touch if you have any questions.
Enjoy the ride!
The Big Pedal is the UK's largest inter-school cycling and scooting challenge, powered by Sustrans and supported by the Kike Hub.
The Big Pedal 2016 will run from the 18th April until the 29th April.
During the Big Pedal 2015, schools made an incredible 1.4 million journeys by bike or scooter.... that's 300,000 more than 2014. Well done to everyone who took part!
Olympic champion Joanna Rowsell Shand MBE is supporting the Big Pedal. A gold medalist from London 2012 (amongst countless other world, Commonwealth and European titles), Joanna took time to speak to Sustrans about cycling to school and why she is encouraging schools to sign up for the Big Pedal.
