Year 6 Butser farm visit

Year 6 visited Butser Farm this week as part of their 'The Last Kingdom' Topic. They got to explore how Anglo-Saxon's lived.

This term Year 6 have been studying how Vikings and Anglo Saxons lived and how they changed the course of Britain's future in History.

As part of their visit to Butser Farm the children made quills out of straw and used them to dip in ink and create drawings. They looked at different artefacts from the Anglo-Saxon period and sewed ancient runes. At the end of the day they looked around a Roman Villa built from remains that were found locally!

Fun fact: Anglo-Saxons often used animal dung to reinforce and maintain the walls of their houses… a natural cement!

Year 6 had a brilliant day immersing themselves in history.
