Lower Site Forest School

Exciting visitor during Forest School.
How exciting! We had a visitor to the lower site earlier in the week. This slow worm was sun bathing when we were packing away at the end of the day. It was a real reminder what a special area we have and how we really do share the forest with lots of wildlife. A slow worm is not a worm or a snake. It is actually a legless lizard. They enjoy sunbathing and like other reptiles usually hibernate from October to March. We have also been listening to lots of different birds – Eurasian Blue Tit, Song Thrush, Eurasion Blackbird, Eurasian Wren, House Sparrow and European Robin! What a lot of beautiful bird song our children are lucky to hear outside.
