Year 3 Visit

Lewes Railway Land Wildlife Trust

This week, Year 3 went on a visit to Lewes Railway Land Wildlife Trust. Rocks and Soils were the focus of the visit, supporting our learning in science.

The children explored what makes soil and why it is so important. They tested and compared soil samples from different locations on the site. They also investigated rock types and fossils and the timescales involved in rock and fossil formation.

One child in Rowan class said "I really liked holding all the fossils because I got to hold sea creatures that died millions of years ago. My favourite one was the ammonite."

Miss Burke said the children really enjoyed learning about rocks and soi, especially learning about what makes up soil.

One child in Willow class said "I enjoyed looking for really shiny rocks and fossils."
